I have been experimenting with film and video all my life. Somewhere I have a box of 8mm films I did from the ages of 12 to 19. About ten years ago, the computer revived my interest in making little movies and recently YouTube has really sparked my interest again.
Here are some little snippets I have done over the years. I’ll add more as time goes on. I have to search through tons of old CD-ROMS and Zip disks.
The Revolution:
This was my final for sociology class. It’s a video collage expressing the major social changes throughout the 20th century from war and the depression to the civil and gay rights movements. I felt the song Revolution by the Beatles added a certain something to the piece.
The Brown Elephant:
There is an HIV/AIDS organization in Chicago called the Howard Brown Health Center. They have several resale shops in Chicago called The Brown Elephant. After the dot-com bust, I got a job managing one of the stores. It was back to school time and we did a window display of a student sitting at a desk with a computer. On the computer was this self promotional video that was on a loop. It is comprised of several digital photos from the store and animated with Adobe After Effects.
